Objectives:
- Participants will see examples of the inspection process for three commodities.
This port of entry is extremely busy today with at least a dozen ships that arrived prior to their estimated time of arrival. Suppose you are the inspector. You will need to prioritize to inspect all of the containers in a timely manner. Let us begin with the three shipping containers that have just been unloaded. One carries a consignment of coconuts, one contains peppers, and the last holds citrus. Click on each of the shipping containers below to review the steps for inspecting that container.
Let’s explore the coconut container first.
Now, let’s explore the pepper container.
Last, let’s explore the citrus container.
As you have seen in this topic, there are numerous factors which influence inspection decisions. However, there are three steps common to any inspection situation: review documentation, verify the integrity of the shipment, and visually inspect the consignment. The examples presented here illustrated how these steps are applied in slightly different situations.
